2025–2026 Annual Report: Building Community Together

This year’s theme, Community, reflects the heart of the Golden Women’s Resource Centre and the collective care that makes our work possible. From crisis support and counselling to youth programming, advocacy, and community events, we continue to provide safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed services for women, girls, and gender-diverse people in Golden and surrounding communities.

Over the past year, the GWRC supported hundreds of individuals through our Safe Home, Stopping the Violence Outreach, Sexual Assault Services, and Girls Empowerment Movement (GEM) programs. We expanded access to counselling and outreach services, strengthened community partnerships, increased public education around gender-based violence, and continued to advocate for safer, more equitable communities.

Some highlights from 2025–26 include:

• The Safe Home program and related services supported 841 women
• Stopping the Violence Outreach services were accessed 390 times by women 
• Sexual Assault Coordination Services were accessed 198 times by women 
• Sexual Assault Counselling Services delivered 289 hours of individual counselling sessions.
• GEM expanded to three after-school groups, serving 36 girls in Grades 4–7, with continued waitlists due to strong demand
• First-ever GEM Spring Break Camp welcomed 13 youth for a week of learning, creativity, and connection
• Community events including the Clothesline Project & BBQ, 16 Days of Activism, December 6 Memorial, Holiday Hot Lunch, and Galentine’s Chocolate Potluck brought people together to foster awareness, healing, and belonging.

None of this work happens in isolation. We are deeply grateful to our staff, volunteers, board members, donors, funders, and community partners whose generosity, advocacy, and collaboration make our programs possible.
