GEM (Girls Empowerment Movement)
GEM (Girls Empowerment Movement) is a 6 week afterschool program for girls in grades 4, 5, 6 & 7 that focuses on empowerment, self-esteem, positive relationships, and having fun. Each week, the session will include a snack, games, activities, and conversation surrounding a relevant topic. We foster a safe, non-judgemental, and supportive space for girls to learn, grow and have fun together.
GEM is for girls (trans & cis), as well as genderqueer and non-binary people who are comfortable in a space that centres on the experiences of women and girls. Throughout this document, we will refer to ‘girls’ and we hope that as you move through this document, you keep this inclusion statement in mind.
We have completed our winter session! Thank you to the participants for a wonderful 6 weeks!
Stay tuned for more information about Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 GEM dates and registration!
A big thank you to the Golden Rotary Club and the Columbia Valley Credit Union for making the research and development for GEM possible.
