Herstory
The Golden Women’s Resource Centre (GWRC) was formally organized in 1978, and became a registered Charity in 1983. The GWRC provides information, support, advocacy, educational workshops, free internet access and most importantly a safe, non-judgmental, welcoming environment for women to gather, relax, share ideas and get support.

The Golden Women’s Centre Society gratefully acknowledges that we operate on the territory of the Ktunaxa people, who share their land with the Secwépemc people, and home of the Métis Nation Columbia River Society. We serve a rural, isolated area of the East Kootenays bounded by Spillimacheen, Donald, and Field (home to approximately 10,000 people). We are committed to activities related to improving the status of women actively engaging in efforts to end violence against women and their children as well as tolerance of violence against women. We also look to improve the economic, social and legal situation of women in the home, the workplace, the community and the world at large.
